Retiring Geelong star Tom Hawkins has shocked Sunrise hosts Nat Barr and Matt Shirvington with his plans for what he would do with his toe, should he get it amputated. Hawkins called time on his glittering career last week, announcing that this season will be his last.
Hawkins joins Sunrise for an exclusive chat. The 35-year-old has been sidelined with a foot injury for the past seven weeks, but hopes to return to the field as the Cats prepare for yet another finals campaign. While he has nearly returned to full fitness, Hawkins could also be forced into a drastic toe amputation once his career is over. “At the end of season 2023, I re-injured my plantar plate which I’d had the issue with in the season of 2022.
