Chilcott's Use Of Color Raises His Cityscapes To The Next Level Chilcott’s art grounds DC’s architecture and heightens Marvel’s. Gotham looks more realistic, while Daredevil’s New York becomes more abstract, a haze of glass and shapes closer to Matt Murdock’s own enhanced sensory input. One of the strongest parts of Chalcott’s art is their use of color.
The framing of each hero is also key to the art’s success. Each hero is depicted from below, emphasizing how these heroes are larger than life figures. There’s also a deliberate contrast in movement. Spider-Man is always moving, always in motion, always swinging. Batman meanwhile is stock-still, a Gotham gargoyle, stoic and/or brooding in equal measure.
