Former Central Regional Superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides is still an employee and on the payroll, even though he stepped down, district officials said.

, Central Regional School District officials clarified his status this week and said Triantafillos Parlapanides is still on the payroll.

“Triantafillos Parlapanides is not functioning as the superintendent for the Central Regional School District. He is on paid administrative leave pursuant to the terms of his employment contract and as required by law. The contract terms remain in effect at this time,” a newly-hired spokeswoman for the Ocean County district said.

Administrative leave is considered a temporary suspension of employment with standard benefits and pay, under the terms of Parlapanides’ contract, officials said. Parlapanides is scheduled to earn $195,353 for the 2022-2023 school year, according to his contract.
