It comes at a time when prices continue to rise
A supermarket chain that was previously found to be the most expensive has become the third cheapest in a weekly comparison. Amid price increases, Manchester Evening News have been monitoring the prices of the same eight essential items at the main six supermarkets every week.
The bill for both Tesco and Sainsbury's is also now more than the retailer's £11.77 after the latter raised the price of mince from £1.99 to £2.19 as part of its Aldi Price Match. As well as the 500g pack of mince, the comparison also looks at the prices of a two-pint bottle of milk, a loaf of bread, a pack of chicken breasts, tea bags, coffee, beans and butter.
As the cost of living crisis continued and products continue to rise in price, shoppers have been warned that the increases are not stopping any time soon. Grocery inflation continued to climb during February, reaching a new record high of 17.1%.
