Supreme Court blocks revised plan for legislative districts in Wisconsin that created a new Black voting district and was opposed by Republicans.
for the state's congressional districts, rejecting a challenge filed by state Republicans. While the new maps would make minor changes to the boundary lines for the state’s eight congressional districts to account for population changes, they would still preserve the current 5-3 Republican advantage.
It was the latest in what will likely be dozens of redistricting challenges to reach the high court following the 2020 census. In the past several weeks the justices acted on political boundary cases from Alabama, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. The justices said an emergency appeal filed by Republicans in Pennsylvania was premature given that the case is pending before a lower federal court.
