The man in his 20s was attacked at the Boat Ramp surfing spot at Gnarabup Beach about 8.45am.

Footage taken from the shore at the time has shown the man's surfboard go flying after he was bitten on his left leg.A person has been bitten by a shark south of Perth, according to reports.The attack happened at Gnarabup Beach in the Margaret River region, the state's Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development said.Witnesses told 9News he lost "a lot of blood" and praised the man's bravery, saying "he saved his own life".

On the beach, a nurse tried to give the man first aid before he was rushed to hospital by ambulance. The shark was spotted again 15 minutes after the attack, which was the seventh in WA water this year.
