Inquest into the teen’s death was told witness allegedly asked a fellow inmate if police “can get fingerprints off bits of wood”.
A suspect in the murder of a 15-year-old girl in Queensland in 1989 has denied he “confessed” to the crime several times in the years since.
The male person of interest, who cannot be identified for legal reasons and will be referred to as “Witness X”, gave evidence in Brisbane on Wednesday before state coroner Terry Ryan. Witness X said he left Hotel Norville and was going to Rumours nightclub. He claimed Ms Mason put her arm around him at the nightclub entrance and asked: “Can you get me in?”
On a later occasion in prison, he allegedly told a friend he was concerned about being charged with Ms Mason’s murder.
