Jacobe Ferguson, 30, was arrested and charged with arson causing bodily harm for his alleged connection to the San Marcos, Texas, fire at Iconic Village Apartments. Police contribute newfound information to re-examining the original investigation. They went back to interview people they previously spoke to at the beginning stages of the case. Ferguson, who lived at Iconic Village in 2018, happened to be one of the many past interviewees, but he didn’t stand out at the time.
Fire investigations can be complex to solve, officials said at a Thursday press briefing, so they had their work cut out for them. From circling back to the original work done, re-interviewing witnesses and watching hours of body cam footage, police spotted a connection.
