Aung San Suu Kyi will face another seven years on top of her 26-year jail sentence after the former Myanmar leader was found guilty of five corruption charges.
The corruption charges relate to her past lease and use of a helicopter when she was Myanmar’s de facto leader.
The 77-year-old Nobel Prize winner was detained in February 2021 during a military coup by the junta. “What the current military wants to do is basically … they want her to die in prison. They want to wipe out the nation’s elite for democracy,” Spokesperson of CRPH-NUG Support Group Ko Saulsman told Sky News Australia.
