Wingert is having his best season yet in what is his final season with the as one of eight graduating players on the Canadian Junior Football League squad.The Saskatoon product has come into his own this season, making big plays while registering three interceptions, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble, a pass knockdown and a tackle for a loss. Included in that total is a ‘pick-six’ for a 65-yard touchdown major.

As a captain he’s doing a great job of leading.” The Toppers have allowed only 51 points in eight games this season. It’s their most dominant performance, defensively, since the 2018 season in which they outscored opponents 402-70.
Wingert, who had a large family contingent show up for graduation day to watch his final regular-season game, realizes that every game from here on in is a bonus.
