The Swans have raced to second place on the ladder with a strong win over Collingwood which brought the Magpies’ 11-game winning streak to an end. agerealfooty
The Swans have charged into premiership calculations after smashing Collingwood’s 11-game winning streak at a packed SCG on Sunday to leap into second place on the AFL ladder.
With second-placed Melbourne playing third-placed Brisbane in the last match - both sides are also on 60 points - the loser would drop below the Magpies if they won. Up forward for the Swans, Lance Franklin kicked three goals in a match dominated by defences. Tom Papley and Isaac Heeney in his 150th game both kicked two. Papley has kicked two goals in each of the Swans’ last six games.Collingwood were unable to cope with the Swans’ smothering defence, which kept the Magpies to just three goals until the 21-minute mark of the third quarter, when Darcy Cameron kicked his side’s fourth.
The sellout crowd’s biggest contribution was booing Collingwood’s controversial small forward Ginnivan for receiving a free kick for a high tackle, which had made the bottle blond such a talking point in recent weeks.
