Hundreds of thousands of Australian aged care workers are set to receive a wage boost of up to 28 per cent in what marks the biggest pay rise ever awarded to the sector.

A Certificate III-qualified personal care worker on level three will be upped to a benchmark pay rate of $32.31 per hour or $1,223.90 per week. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese hailed the Friday announcement and reiterated his government’s commitment to “examine any funding that comes down”. “We will always work with our aged care workforce in order to improve the life of people who have looked after this country for such a long period of time.”
