Sydney Airport has added Turkish Airlines to its mix of major international carriers in order to boost competition, generate more jobs and inject $53 million into the New South Wales visitor economy in its first year.

A major airline is set to join the mix of international carriers travelling to and from Sydney Airport in a huge deal expected to boost the visitor economy and support hundreds of new jobs.

Mr Graham said the state government had worked closely with Turkish Airlines and Sydney Airport to strike the deal which held"enormous potential" for growing the state's visitor economy. Sydney Airport CEO Scott Charlton said the announcement was a"significant milestone" for travel to Europe which offered passengers"seamless access" to hundreds of destination via the airline's Istanbul hub.

The flight will involve a stop in Kuala Lumpur to refuel, but will soon go on to become a non-stop route to Istanbul in 2026.
