Authorities have charged a Sydney airline worker in a major smuggling bust after more than four litres of liquid drugs were found inside shampoo bottles.

The four bottles of ‘shampoo’ as well as a water bottle in a sealed bag were located wrapped in clothing inside the staff members' baggage. The man was charged with importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug, namely gamma butyrolactone and faces life imprisonment if found guilty. “We will allege the man charged abused his trusted position as an airline employee and sought to use that access to smuggle a commercial quantity of drugs into Australia.
