Sydney contemporary artist and First Nations woman Danielle Mate has completed the first permanent Indigenous artwork to sit along Sydney’s Georges River.
“I wanted something that was inviting and exciting and would encourage people to come down and visit the space,” Ms Mate told Sky News Australia.
She has been working on the unique artwork and ecosystem for native microbats since November 2021, in partnership with Sydney’s Georges River Council.Ms Mate said it is important for First Nations artists to be identified in public art spaces.Read More
