An unregistered practitioner at Ketthip Beauty Clinic in Sydney is accused of violating safety protocols, potentially exposing clients to hepatitis B and C, HIV, and other blood-borne viruses. The clinic is now facing an eight-week closure while an investigation takes place.
A Sydney beauty clinic is facing scrutiny after authorities discovered potential breaches of safety protocols that may have exposed clients to blood-borne viruses . The NSW Health South Eastern Sydney Local Health District issued a warning, stating that an unregistered practitioner at Ketthip Beauty Clinic, located on Sussex Street, engaged in practices that violated poisons and skin penetration regulations. Dr.
Vicky Sheppeard, director of the district's public health unit, urged clients who received infusions, injections, or underwent invasive procedures such as microdermabrasion or thread lifts to seek immediate medical attention and undergo blood tests. She emphasized that Ketthip Clinic exemplifies the dangers posed by unregistered providers who administer non-sterile injections of potentially hazardous substances. The clinic's workers had previously raised concerns about unsafe practices with the Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC), prompting the health district to launch an investigation. A February 27 inspection revealed that several procedures were not conducted in accordance with legal requirements, increasing the risk of infection transmission between clients. The HCCC uncovered evidence suggesting that unregistered individuals at the clinic may have impersonated registered medical practitioners, performing invasive surgical procedures, including breast augmentations, without the involvement of any qualified healthcare professional. The clinic's use of equipment intended solely for veterinary purposes further compounded the safety concerns, raising immediate red flags regarding hygiene and infection control practices. Additionally, the clinic was found to be importing medications from overseas, several of which were expired. Following these findings, the HCCC issued an interim prohibition order, effectively halting the clinic's ability to provide any health services, including cosmetic procedures, for a period of eight weeks while the investigation continues. The HCCC strongly advises individuals seeking cosmetic procedures to verify the practitioner's registration on the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency website. The Ketthip Beauty Clinic's website has been taken offline for maintenance, and its mobile number is currently unavailable. Dr. Sheppeard stressed the paramount importance of ensuring that practitioners administering cosmetic injections or procedures are registered health providers. The HCCC encourages any clients concerned about the care they received at the clinic to contact them at [email protected]. For further information regarding the potential infection risks associated with the clinic, individuals can contact NSW Health at 1300 066 055

Commuters are warned to expect 'unpredictable' delays and cancellations on Monday as train workers continue their actions. The NSW government took the union to the Fair Work Commission after a high number of sick leave calls by employees on Friday, but the commission dismissed the government's claims of coordinated action. The dispute centers around a $4,500 sign-on bonus, with the government arguing against further concessions. The union maintains workers deserve fair compensation and criticizes the government's handling of the situation.
