Children requiring urgent elective surgeries in Sydney’s hospitals are waiting up to five days as Australia’s health crisis worsens.
Data from the Bureau of Health Information shows wait lists for paediatric surgeries going as far back as September.
The Bureau data also shows up to 1,000 children have experienced surgery delays beyond initial wait times. Melbourne doctors say emergency departments are overflowing as wait times for a hospital bed exceed 12 hours.
