A snowball effect of work bans on the Sydney train network is expected from Saturday onwards, with more than 200 bans notified from the combined rail unions.

Train commuters in Sydney are being warned to expect services to worsen over the weekend as union work bans begin to impact the network.

"This included cancelled services yesterday on the T1 Western and North Shore, T2 Leppington and Inner West, T3 Liverpool and Inner West, T5 Cumberland, T8 Airport and South, and T9 Northern Lines," Mr Longland said. "When these bans are overlaid over each other, it gets more and more difficult to manage incidents on the network.""Whether that is things like the number of kilometres that a train driver might work before they finish their shift."

"This Christmas — New Year period is when a lot of businesses make their money for the year. If the unions take that away, some businesses will go bankrupt.Toby Warnes, NSW secretary for the Rail, Tram and Bus Union said people might need to look at alternative transport this weekend."I encourage people to first of all check their apps and make alternative travel arrangements.

"Sydney Trains thanks everybody for their understanding as staff work to minimise the impacts of this industrial action," it said.

This promising development comes as scientists emphasize the need to manage and restore natural habitats for the species' long-term survival. The red handfish population in the wild is estimated to be around 100, with the last known wild population located south-east of Hobart. A marine heatwave last summer threatened the species, prompting an intervention to remove about 25 fish from the wild for safekeeping.
