NSW Police suspends a 31-year-old officer who stands accused of multiple offences allegedly committed over an eight-year period.
A Sydney police officer has been suspended after being accused of stalking and sexual assault offences allegedly committed against two women.
Constable Joshua Wootton was arrested on Tuesday following an investigation by Police Strike Force Mattm into allegations of rape, stalking, and domestic violence from the women, both aged 26. The 31-year-old was charged with nine offences allegedly perpetrated over a period of almost eight years. The charges include two counts of sexual intercourse without consent, three counts of stalking with intent to cause fear, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, accessing data held in a computer, public office misconduct and malicious damage to property.Constable Joshua Wootton did not take questions when leaving court.
It is alleged he also allegedly broke into the NSW Police Force's central online database without authorisation in February of this year.Police prosecutors told the court they would not act in the case, suggesting it be passed over to the Director of Public Prosecutions.NSW Police says Wootton has been stood down from duties and his employment status is under review.
