Sydney prepares for its iconic New Year's Eve fireworks display, with organizers assuring the public that public transport will be available despite expected congestion. Fireworks will launch from the western side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge for the first time, offering a new vantage point for viewers.

Despite confirmation of no rail union strikes, public transport will still be heavily congested on New Year's Eve.The organisers behind Sydney 's New Year's Eve fireworks have assured the public that changes to transport options will not impede passengers' ability to travel to and from the city.

New Year's Eve is only days away and the set up for the iconic Sydney Harbour fireworks is in full swing. New Year’s Eve creative director Fortunato Foti said he was "never in doubt" that the fireworks would go ahead, despite the NSW Police CommissionerMr Gilby said the council was "very happy that we have reached that point", following the negotiation agreement between the Rail, Tram and Bus Union and the NSW government.

"Approximately 3,600 Sydney Trains staff will work across the network on New Year's Eve, to help the million-plus crowd expected to flood into the city's vantage points have a safe and reliable public transport trip," Sydney Trains chief executive Matt Longland said. Crews with Foti International Fireworks have been working extensively in the lead-up to New Year's Eve and according to the organisers, this year's fireworks are set to be the biggest on record.
