Sydney protest organisers have won an eleventh hour appeal to have a Supreme Court ruling making mass demonstrations illegal, overturned.

Sydney protest organisers have won an appeal to have a Supreme Court ruling making mass demonstrations illegal, overturned. The New South Wales government made the submission to the Supreme Court to place an injunction against scheduled solidarity protests due to concerns about a potential spike in COVID-19 cases.

Meanwhile, up to three arrests were made in the CBD as large crowds gathered. Two of the men were allegedly involved in an altercation before police arrested the pair while a third man was arrested for allegedly making racist remarks and stealing a placard from one of the protesters. Large numbers of NSW Police were present, engaging in conversations with demonstrators and playing games in an effort to diminish tensions following recent events in the United States.
