The NSW parliamentary committee has handed over its report on the Rosehill Racecourse redevelopment to the ICAC due to conflicting information and concerns about direct dealings and conflicts of interest.
A report looking into bold new plan to develop a racecourse in the heart of Sydney to make way for more affordable housing has been referred to NSW’s corruption watch dog.A NSW parliamentary committee has referred its report on the Rosehill Racecourse development plan to the Independent Commission Against Corruption .
“Throughout the inquiry there was significant conflicting information that was presented, which asked more questions than it answered,” Committee Chair Scott Farlow said in the report’s foreword. “The committee found that the Premier's diary disclosure of the 30 October 2023 meeting between Mr Steve McMahon, Head of Membership and Corporate Affairs, Australian Turf Club and the Premier Hon Chris Minns MP as a 'meet and greet' was inaccurate, misleading and did not adequately describe the purpose of this meeting,” the report said.
Mr Minns addressed media on Thursday after key details of the report were leaked, saying housing was “too crucial” of an issue for his government to walk away from, especially for young people across the “expensive city” of Sydney.
