An AFL trade that once looked a fait accompli has suddenly hit a snag as Melbourne and Sydney begin to haggle over Brodie Grundy’s worth. The out-of-favour Demons big man is a two-time All-Australian and two-time Collingwood best and fairest, but found himself running around in the VFL this year as Simon Goodwin’s match committee opted to give skipper Max Gawn complete control of the ruck duties.
Melbourne knock back Sydney’s first offer for Brodie Grundy. And with Sydney keen on Grundy to fill their No.1 ruck role, after the Demons pulled the pin on their attempts to partner him with Gawn, Melbourne list boss Tim Lamb believes a deal with the Swans should be “fairly straightforward”. But negotiations hit some turbulence on Tuesday when Lamb quickly rejected an offer of pick No.46 from the Swans, as confirmed by Mitch Cleary on 7NEWS.
