Sydney Swans star Elijah Taylor has been charged after his ex-girlfriend made allegations of assault on social media.
The 19-year-old AFL rookie was charged with aggravated unlawful assault occasioning bodily harm after his arrest in Perth yesterday. Taylor was questioned by police for more than five hours yesterday after his ex-girlfriend Lekahni Pearce accused him of assault in a post on Facebook, which was later removed as it "breached guidelines".Elijah Taylor of the Swans AFL club has been arrested in Perth.
"The AFL has been in contact with local law enforcement and will continue to provide support and assistance for all," it said in a statement. Taylor was suspended for the rest of the AFL season after Ms Pearce was found in his hotel room, breaching COVID-19 restrictions.Related
