A Sydney Uber driver who raped a 17-year-old passenger snoozing in the back of his car has been sent to jail
Dedeoglu was found guilty at trial of sexual intercourse without consent and two counts of assault with an act of indecency but has not shown any remorse, NSW District Court Judge Nicole NomanThe 39-year-old's continued argument that the girl in effect propositioned him "speaks to him having no insight", she said."She placed herself in a position of trust [and Dedeoglu] took advantage of the situation.
But exactly how long the acts went on remained unclear, she said, as the driver's account was "highly improbable" and the girl could only recall the last moments when she came to. The victim would undoubtedly carry trauma and long-term psychological effects may manifest at a later stage, she said.Dedeoglu will likely be deported to Turkey once his six-year non-parole period ends.
