Today looks the time to hang out the washing in the bright winter sun as dry and sunny conditions overtake damp ones.

Sydney residents can put their umbrellas away and hang out the washing in the winter sunshine from today as an 11-day rainy spell ends. After a light shower fell yesterday in central Sydney, the damp streak officially stretched out to 11 days of recorded rainfall, with 58.6 mm in total for this month.Sydney residents can look forward to putting their umbrellas away as a run of damp weather ends.

Relief has now arrived as fine and dry weather kicks in today and tomorrow, with top temperatures of 19 degrees and 18 degrees respectively.Sunny and dry conditions are forecast over large parts of New South Wales for the remainder of this week. The mercury will then fall from Friday into the weekend and remain chilly into next week, with top temperatures struggling to reach 15 degrees.

And while there might be a shower or two from Friday onwards, the rain shouldn't be as heavy or frequent as it has been so far this month. Meanwhile, winds in excess of 100km/h swept across south-western Western Australia overnight. Widespread rain is also forecast to continue falling over the region.
