Street Talk understands the privately held zoo is seeking to institutionalise its register and expand operations.

Taylor Swift has done two rounds of Sydney Zoo. Now, it’s prospective investors’ chance to explore the grounds.

Among its growth initiatives is a new function centre, which operators think will bring in $2 million to $3 million in gross profit. It would also spread out across 3.1 hectares of undeveloped land and increase its events capacity. The new zoo was envisaged in 2015 as a cage-free private zoo for Sydney’s western suburbs and spurred into action after a $37 million capital raising that year. Management raised another, picking up support from Ivany Investment Group chairman and former Hoyts cinema chain chief Peter Ivany and the boss of Scenic World in the Blue Mountains, David Hammon.
