Record View says it is disappointing one in four children still live below the poverty line.

Yet figures reported in today’s Record show that one in four children still live below the poverty line. It was former first minister Nicola Sturgeon who cited poverty reduction as a key policy – and demonstrated this by putting tough targets into law.

The current First Minister – a dad himself – is clearly a man who wants to make a difference on this issue. So we need to see a concrete plan from him on how he hopes to get child poverty reduction back on track. We have targets for everything from educational attainment to health outcomes – and they seem to be breached almost daily without any consequences for the relevant minister. Of course, there have been outside issues which have limited the SNP’s ability to tackle poverty.

More recently inflation has hammered all Scots, with the poor suffering from rising costs more than most. But despite all of these factors, the SNP made a promise that it would tackle the scourge of child poverty.Farage’s minion NIGEL Farage’s Reform UK party used to be called the Brexit Party. Moaning about the EU was seemingly all its candidates could do.
