Already a subscriber?Former Tabcorp chief executive Adam Rytenskild says he was told the wagering group would sack him if he did not immediately resign after being confronted by chairman Bruce Akhurst with allegations he made a vulgar remark about a gaming regulator.

Adam Rytenskild, Tabcorp’s former chief executive, leaving the Fair Work Commission on Wednesday with his lawyers.at a time the company was seeking to extend a lucrative deal which made it the exclusive operator of retail wagering in the state. Mr Arkurst, Mr Gallop and Ms Murphy did not appear before the commission. Tabcorp’s only witness statement came from company secretary Chris Murphy, who was not in the meeting with Mr Rytenskild and the three board members.

Mr Rytenskild said Mr Akhurst had variously told him in the meeting that he would “be terminated” and was “likely be terminated” by the board that afternoon. “It was very clear there were two options, resign or be terminated. I was very shocked,” he said.Mr Rytenskild said there was no proper investigation because he hadn’t been interviewed, given a chance to defend himself. He denied the allegation.
