Two people were rescued Saturday morning from a partially submerged vehicle just north of the San Diego International Airport, where street flooding occurred under steady rain.

The tail of an Alaskan storm caused trouble and merriment Saturday across San Diego County, where two people were rescued from a flooded street in San Diego and scores of others went sledding in heavy snow on Mount Laguna.

The rain will taper off during the afternoon. That will allow the land to warm up which, in turn, could help spark thunderstorms, forecasters said. Three San Diego Lifeguards helped pull the pair to safety on Pacific Highway near Barnett Avenue, officials said. A photo released by the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department shows what appears to be a gray sedan in water nearly up to its headlights.
