Blackburn takeaway granted permission to extend and fit new frontage
Rab Nawaz can now install a new shop front with roller shutters. He can also build separate entrance to the flat above and add a rear single storey extension to the property at 465 Whalley New Road in Roe Lee, Blackburn.
A report approving the alterations by Blackburn with Darwen Council planning officer Jamie Edwards says: “The application site relates to an existing hot food takeaway premises situated on the western side of Whalley New Road, Blackburn.“The host property is positioned within the Roe Lee District Centre.
“The proposal also includes the formation of a new separate access to the flat above the ground floor commercial unit. Nine neighbours were consulted by letter and no comments were received. “The new shop front would comprise two entrance doors, one to the first floor flat and the other to the takeaway use either side of two centralised glazed panels. The alteration to the shop front is considered to introduce a modern and proportionate front to the building.
“It is also noted that the locality is characterised by a wide variety of shop frontage design – including differing materials and a wide variety of window styles, and therefore the proposal will not appear incongruous in this setting.”
