San Antonio is throwing away more trash than ever.
To put that in perspective, the Tower of Americas weighs 80 million pounds, or 40,000 tons. It would take 17 Tower of Americas to equal how much trash was thrown out last year. A curbside brush service and leaf collection are also done twice a year at no cost, and there are drop-off centers for brush, bulky items and household hazardous waste.
Marcus Lee, Public Information Officer with the San Antonio Solid Waste Department, said there are many reasons recycling has improved.
