Spelling mistakes and incorrect questions have been identified in several year 11 and 12 exams in Tasmania. One concerned parent says it left her son 'rattled'.
Students and teachers have reported mistakes in end-of-year chemistry, physics, and food and nutrition exams in Tasmania. The Tasmanian exam authority has apologised to students who were affected by spelling mistakes and incorrect questions in several Tasmanian Certificate of Education exams.
Feedback given to the Australian Education Union from a teacher described the food and nutrition paper as "borderline disgraceful" and said there was an issue in copying over the setting examiner's copy to the actual exam paper. She said students at her son's exam centre were also advised during the exam of an error on the physics paper."It would be unfair to disadvantage students who have as if the question is asked correctly, as opposed to the students who have read the question and gone, 'that's not possible, I'll answer it in a different sense and state my assumptions'," she said.
