A fed-up Tasmanian government intervenes in the ongoing saga of the Spirit of Tasmania ferry port construction, while the state-owned ferry company vows to set 'the record straight' over the matter.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff said the intervention was intended to "stop the blame game" and deliver solutions as he continues to be peppered with questions about the Until the new berths are finished, the new ferries will need to operate at vastly reduced capacity because the temporary berths are not deep enough.Both the Tasmanian government and the company which manages the state's port facilities held concerns over the ability of the Spirit of Tasmania ferry operator to manage the construction of upgrades to the berths for the new ships.

But in a statement, chair Mike Grainger said he disputed elements of the evidence presented to the committee, and looked forward to "setting the record straight" when he appears before the committee next month.

"Further, we look forward to explaining in greater detail the context for the decisions the board took in relation to the terminal development at berth three in Devonport."
