Tax rebates worth up to $325 for individual filers and $650 for joint filers in Indiana should be heading to residents by Nov. 1.

The payments are the product of two rebates that the Hoosier State is rolling out. The first entailed payments of $125 and $250 for individual and joint filers, respectively, and the second, which was signed into law last month, includes an additional $200 for individual applicants and $400 for joint filers. While the first round has already been paid out, some residents may not have received it due to supply chain woes.

To qualify for both rounds of payments, residents must not be registered as a dependent on a 2022 income tax return for Indiana and must have received Social Security benefits in 2022. If one qualified for the first payment, they will qualify for the second, according to the Indiana Department of Revenue. For both rebates, people can receive payments via direct deposit or checks in the mail.

Last month, Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb signed a bill greenlighting the second round of rebates. The measure also moved some $1 million in reserves into the pension stabilization fund.Over $254 million worth of payments for the first round of rebates was doled to 2.1 million taxpayers by Aug. 3, per the state's Department of Revenue. For the second round, over $403 million was rolled out via 1.5 million direct deposit refunds by Aug. 16, according to the agency.
