I am at the world’s biggest consumer tech show and all the gadgets keep telling me I look tired. Since I arrived in Las Vegas my ego has been hit hard. CES is the biggest tech show on the planet and the latest innovations here aren’t just about improving your home, they’re judging you too. From AI beauty mirrors to cars that monitor your every blink, this year’s show is brutally honest — and it hasn’t even started officially yet.

The standout for me? Samsung hosted a preview event at Caesar’s Place where they gave the media an early look at some of the latest TV screens. But the one that stole the show was actually a mirror that’s been tricked up with all the latest tech. It uses an embedded camera along with artificial intelligence to scan your face and recommend skincare products tailored to your needs. Within 30 seconds, it analyses everything from wrinkles to skin texture. It’s both impressive and a little rude. As I tested it out, I couldn’t help but laugh when it pointed out areas that could “use improvement.” For sure it was a little mean, but still clever. Samsung’s new TVs feature Vision AI, which can identify actors on-screen or translate captions into multiple languages instantly. Then there’s the popular Frame TV, now wireless for a cleaner, more minimalist look. AI is also coming on wheels. In fact LG is taking personalisation to a whole new level! This tech tracks your heart rate and even monitors your gaze to ensure you’re focusing on the road. It also detects signs of fatigue and can even suggest locations to stop and have a coffee.
