James Tedesco only needs to glance over his right shoulder for a reminder of just how close Origin gets.
Tedesco will lead NSW onto Accor Stadium for the first time in almost two years on Wednesday night, hunting a fourth series win over Queensland in five campaigns. It’s one reason why NSW coach Brad Fittler stands back and lets Tedesco and halfback Nathan Cleary take more control as kick-off draws closer.
“I don’t have to be someone I’m not,” Tedesco says. “I was a bit surprised when I first got given the captaincy in 2020 [when Cordner was ruled out of the series after Origin I]. Obviously, I thought Boydo would be captain here for a long time.
