The father of a teenage boy who died while trying to save his friend from drowning has called for a notorious south-east Queensland swimming spot to be closed off. Queensland Police said the pair were spending the day together and swimming in calmer waters upstream when the girl got caught in rapids around 2.30pm and was swept downstream over the falls.
Beau's father, Adam Liddell, said the family was struggling to come to terms with the devastating loss."You don't expect these things to happen. Everyone's just destroyed."
