The shooting Wednesday happened after police said they followed a vehicle with Fraire in the passenger seat. When the vehicle pulled into the Bahama Glen Apartments about 3 p.m., officers yelled for those in the car to get out, police said.The driver, whose name has not been released, surrendered, police said. Fraire opened fire and struck one officer in the foot, police said. Officers then returned fire, killing Fraire, according to police. It was unclear whether the driver faces any charges.
The law-enforcement bulletin said Fraire was accused of several violent crimes in the past, but his criminal history did not appear in court records.According to the narrative of the slaying in the Farmers Branch affidavit, four people — wearing hoodies, masks and gloves — kicked open a door to an apartment in the 14200 block of Heritage Circle, home video footage shows. The affidavit says two of them held firearms.
