A teenager who bashed Odette Feige in her own home, leaving her for dead and stealing her jewellery, handbag and car, is facing a potential life sentence after being found guilty of her murder in a Perth court.
A teenage burglar is facing a possible life jail term after being found guilty of the murder of an elderly Perth woman who was bashed and robbed in her own home. She died in hospital four weeks laterThe youth was just short of his 18th birthday when he somehow got into the Swan View home of 71-year-old Odette Feige in the early hours of the morning on October 31, 2019.
The Supreme Court was told Ms Feige had been struck at least twice to the head with a weapon as she sat in an armchair. While the exact nature of the weapon was not known, it was alleged to be motorcycle gloves with metal guards on them. He admitted breaking into Ms Feige's home and stealing jewellery, a handbag and her car, but denied he was responsible for bashing her.
Prosecutors had argued that even if the jury was not satisfied the teenager was responsible for the violence, he could still be found guilty of the murder because he had aided in the commission of the offence. He was also convicted of stealing with violence from her, in circumstances of aggravation, including that she was aged over 60.
