Sam Konstas shines in Sydney Thunder's thrilling win over Adelaide Strikers.
Teen Sam Konstas made a stunning debut in the Big Bash , smashing a half-century in just 20 balls during the Sydney Thunder 's two-wicket victory over the Adelaide Strikers . Konstas blasted 56 runs from 27 balls, reaching his milestone from only 20 balls, surpassing the record previously held by Englishman Alex Hales (21 balls). At 19 years and 76 days old, Konstas also became the youngest player to score a BBL half-century, breaking Jason Sangha's record by 28 days.
This impressive feat follows his century-scoring performance for the Prime Minister's XI against India earlier in December. Konstas, who was in contention for a Test spot this summer but ultimately missed out to Nathan McSweeney, launched into his innings from the first ball, hitting shots throughout the ground. The Thunder's victory was secured by all-rounder Daniel Sams, who smashed 31 runs off a single over from Strikers leg-spinner Lloyd Pope, leading the team to an improbable two-wicket win. Sams (42* from 18 balls) delivered a breathtaking display of hitting, hitting six, six, wide, four, six, four and four off Pope's over.
