A man has died in a single-vehicle crash on a major Queensland highway. The 19-year-old was riding his motorbike along the Bruce Hwy — about 3km south of the Yandina exit — about 12.16am on Thursday when he crashed. He was riding in a group with two friends, who witnessed the crash. The surviving riders saw their friend crash into the guard rail and “fly over the guard rail into the median strip”, Senior Sergeant Brett Young exclusively told 7 NEWS .
“They’re obviously very distressed.” Paramedics who arrived to treat the young rider declared him dead at the scene. The man’s motorbike was located approximately 300m south of where it hit the guard rail. Young described it as a “very nasty” crash. All three men are believed to be residents of the Sunshine Coast, who had spent the evening in Noosa before going for a ride together. Queensland Police are investigating the crash.
