The teenager accused of mowing down a cyclist in Las Vegas last month boasted to officers that he would only get a “slap on the wrist” for the deadly incident.
Jesus Ayala, 18, told officers he would be out of jail in a month after he was taken into custody Aug. 14, according to an arrest report from the Las Vegas police.
Probst, a retired police chief who ran the department in Bell, California, eventually died at a hospital. Both suspects had court hearings Tuesday, where they were ordered to remain behind bars pending their preliminary hearings.
