A teenager has been charged after a former Matildas player was the victim of an attempted carjacking at knifepoint while she was live on national radio.

The incident unfolded while Elissia Carnavas was making her first appearance in a weekly spot on SEN Radio’s, co-hosted by commentator and journalist Simon Hill and ex-Socceroo and Sydney FC captain Alex Brosque.

When they were unsuccessful, they fled in the Volkswagen towards Bennetts Road, leaving Carnavas unharmed. Speaking to Nine News, Carnavas said she was not far from her home when she decided to pull over for her radio segment. “I guess when you are in a segment you are quite engrossed in what you are talking about, so I just didn’t register that they might be casing me.”
