The crocodile is believed to be 3.5 metres in length.
Queensland Police confirmed the boy's body was located on Saibai Island yesterday afternoon, with injuries "consistent with a crocodile attack".
Police believe the 16-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy were in a dinghy that had broken down. Both attempted to swim to shore.A teen has been killed by a crocodile on Saibai Island in the Torres Strait. A search and rescue operation for the 16-year-old was launched about 4am yesterday by Thursday Island Water Police.Saibai Island is a low-lying island four kilometres from Papua New Guinea's mainland.
The island is part of the Torres Strait Islands archipelago and is located in the Torres Strait, which intersects Far North Queensland and Papua New Guinea.
