The 18-year-old was pulled unconscious from the water but he was unable to be revived.

A teenager has died after he was pulled unconscious from the surf at a Lake Macquarie beach on Sunday morning.

Paramedics and the Westpac rescue helicopter were called to the scene at Pinny beach on Sunday morning.It is understood the 18-year-old man was bodyboarding about 10am before he was found under the surface of the water.The unpatrolled Pinny beach is south of Caves beach. Beachsafe describes the 250-metre stretch as moderately hazardous and "unsuitable for safe swimming".

A Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service spokesman said they were called to the scene but did not transport anyone.In February
