It was reported by the Courier Mail the young man's leg was partially crushed when the rim of a mining truck tyre fell on it. A spokesperson for Resources Safety and Health Queensland said the regulator was investigating how the incident unfolded. The injury comes just two days after the BHP Mitsubishi Alliance had to suspend operations at its Broadmeadow mine when an underground worker suffered a crush injury to the torso in Central Queensland.
