Two teenagers on life support in Thailand have been identified following a suspected instance of methanol poisoning.
Two young women who are on life support in Thailand after their drinks were allegedly laced with methanol during a backpacking holiday have been identified as their families rush to be by their bedsides.
The pair were staying at a hostel in the town of Vang Vieng when they contacted staff and told them they were feeling unwell. Picture: Facebook Social Services Minister Amanda Rishworth spoke about the incident during an interview on the Today show on Tuesday, describing the situation as every parent’s “worst nightmare”.
“And it's just an awful reminder also that when you travel overseas, the environment is not the same here as it is in Australia. It is difficult and you've got to be very conscious of that.”
