Ummmmm... what just happened? 😂 9WWOS
The tennis world was left completely stunned following one of the rarest achievements in the sport with Thailand's Krittin Koaykul defeating Ukraine's Artem Bahmen 6-0, 6-0 in a golden match, in the ITF World Tennis Tour competition.Koaykul entered the match ranked at ATP World No.1,369. The 24-year-old was competing in the first round of qualifying at the M15 event in Doha when the near-impossible achievement happened.
Bahmen proved he was no match for the Thai, displaying the kind of skill and athletic ability that would usually be associated with occasional backyard players, not those competing on the professional tour. In a diabolical two-set performance the Ukrainian struggled to keep the ball in the court for more than a couple of shots consecutively, even as his opponent acknowledged his lack of ability and started to play easy rally points against him.
Before Koaykul achieved it, the most recent golden match was in the opening qualifying round of a Czech Republic event in 2018 when 18-year-old Dan Added defeated Freddy Prioton 6-0 6-0 in 30 minutes.
