Prior to this year's exams, it was revealed that a production error had allowed some students to access questions that were very similar to what appeared on the real tests. He apologised to the students for the error and said better safeguards would be put in place in the future. He also ordered a "root-and-branch review" of the VCAA.Mr Carroll said the external review would look at the structure and operations of the VCAA to provide "full confidence to Victorian students, families and schools".The monitor will provide guidance to the VCAA and report back to the government on the Authority's exam preparation, management and production.
For her VCE exams, Ms Armstrong took mainstream English, English literature, philosophy, history revolutions and a university enhancement subject in Aboriginal studies and anthropology at La Trobe University.
